Registration procedure
- Through the obtainment of a course catalog which is provided by the each department office (i.e. Department of Economics Office, Department of Public Administration Office, etc.), students may decide which courses they would like to take after consultation with their advising professor.
- During the scheduling period, students must register for courses in a precise order with a computer on/off campus with internet access.
- It is the responsibility of each student to ensure that he/she correctly registers for courses once the period of course registration has started. All students must confirm their registered courses by obtaining a confirmation of course registration document (수강신청확인서) from the department office of their major within a certain period. The receipt should be kept by the student until the end of the grading process at semester‘s end.
Course registration period and place to register
- Registration period: 1 week before the beginning of every semester (Exact dates will be posted on the notice board)
- How to register: Registration must be done through a link on the homepage during the scheduled period.
- Where to register: Anywhere you can access the internet
- Available time to enroll: Online enrollment is available 24 hours per day during the scheduling period. Possible restrictions may occur from 04:00 to 05:00 (for 1 hour) due to data backup.
※ If you have any inquiries regarding course registration, students can contact the Faculty Office of each college or the department office of the student‘s major. - Period of confirmation and add/drop: First week of the semester (Detailed period will be posted).
※ Changes of registration is only allowed on the condition of unavoidable situations. All disadvantages for failing to follow the registration procedures are the student‘s responsibility.
Notes
- Students must finish course enrollment during the scheduled enrollment period.
- If a major course is closed due to maximum enrollment, you need to contact the department office for that specific major.
- Students must take the required classes offered by their department. Additionally, it is required to obtain a final approval by the dean of the department for final registration confirmation.
※ After the period of course registration, final class rosters must be approved by the dean of the relevant department - It is not permitted for students to enroll in multiple courses with overlapping times.
- If a student repeats a course that he/she has already taken, the credits from the repeated course will not be counted towards graduation.
- Transfer students must check the credit recognition (학점인정조서) every semester before the course registration to decide proper courses for enrollment. If students take courses for which they have already received credit, it is considered a retake (Credits will not be counted towards graduation). For this reason, students must pay attention when registering courses.
Credits for course registration
- Standard course registration range per semester is from 17 to 19 credits. However, in unavoidable cases where a single credit unit exceeds the limit, it is allowed to exceed 1 credit (up to 20 credits).
(During the period of course registration, students can apply for general elective courses of up to 12 credits, but there are no limitations during the add and drop period). - A student who earns a G.P.A. in the previous semester 3.5 or higher can apply for up to 21 credits. Students who receive a G.P.A. in the previous semester of 4.0 or higher can apply for up to 24 credits.
- In the last year of undergraduate studies, the required minimum registration credits is 9. Students who enroll in a 9th semester or beyond can apply for the credit that they need and their tuition will be charged per registered credit.
Curriculum classification
- The curriculum is divided into the following areas: General Requirements (교양필수), General Electives (교양선택), Basic Science (기초과학), Major Basics (전공기초), Major Requirements (전공필수), Major Electives (전공선택), Teaching (교직), Minor (부전공), Double Major (복수전공), Military Science (군사학), (일반선택) Note that students should pay attention to fulfilling all graduation requirements.
- As for General Education courses, students must earn minimum 30 credits and up to 55 credits including General Requirement and General Elective courses.
- Students who enrolled before 2011 need to earn a minimum of 25 credits, and students who enrolled before 2007 can earn 55 credits or more in General Education.

- Students who enrolled after 2008 should check the courses restricted by departments before registration (restricted course credits are not counted towards graduation).
- If a student wants to recognize a grade with an authorized English proficiency test score, the application form should be submitted by the end of the final exam to the department office of the major. ※ The grades based upon English proficiency testing (i.e. TOEIC, TOEFL) are not reflected in a student‘s G.P.A., but included to the semester when they apply. (2 credits/Pass).
- Students must obtain 51 credits or more in major courses including Major Basic and Major Requirement. The student who enrolled in 2010 and beyond must gain at least 60 credits or more according to Article 61.
(For students from the Dept. of Math, Dept. of Physics, Dept. of Chemistry, College of Natural Science and College of Life Sciences and Bioengineering: 63 credits or more.
For students from College of Engineering, College of Information Technology, College of Urban Sciences (except the Dept. of Urban Policy and Administration): 72 credits or more). However, students with double majors are required to earn more than 42 credits from each major to graduate. - If a student wants to take courses from outside his/her major department, he or she should get approval from the corresponding department in consultation with a dean of the relevant department. If it is not allowed, the student should drop the course.
- Military Science and Common Elective (일반선택) (Lifelong educators or courses related to jobs) courses are not counted as credits for General Education or major, which are counted only for graduation.
Repeating courses
- Courses in which a student has received a grade of C+ or lower from INU may be retaken. The course to be retaken should be the same.
- Repeating courses are only limited for same courses that students have taken. In the case of changing of names or number of courses, students may repeat the course on the condition of the approval that the courses are same from the department (major) in charge.
- Grading of repeating courses
- If you repeat a course, the higher grade will be calculated as part of your G.P.A. and the lower grade will be deleted and its credit will not be counted for graduation.
- Although students' G.P.A. get higher after repeating courses, the record of academic probation will be documented.
※ If a student accepted in the year of 2015 retakes the course which was taken in Fall 2015, he/she can only receive a grade of B+ or lower.
(If the student repeats the course which was taken in Spring 2015, he/she can receive a grade of up to A+).

- If the name and number of the course to retake are the same ➜ Select the course to retake in the list at the bottom the page.
- If the courses being retaken are not viewed online or the name of courses (First 7 digits) or course number is changed, students should complete the application form (재수강신청서) (at the department) and obtain a confirmation that it is the same course (from the dean of the relevant department) and submit it to the Office of Educational Support.
※ If students do not follow above procedure, the grade is not replaced and its credits are not recognized for graduation.

Course registration methods for courses of OCU
- Students who take a course of OCU should pay the fee, KRW 24,000 a course (3 credits).

- Payment method: After logging on the OCU homepage, pay the fee by using the menu, [Pay system fee (시스템사용료납부)], using one of the following methods [Credit card, withdrawal, virtual payment account, ATMs]

※ The password can be changed after the initial login (Your ID=PW): Students should pay attention to keep their password secret and changed frequently to avoid any disadvantages. - If students fail to pay the fee during a certain period, the registered courses will be cancelled.
- Academic schedule and grading process for OCU courses follow its academic policy. Cancelled courses and all notices will be posted on the OCU homepage (Open Cyber University) and in the case of cancellation of courses, students should change the courses during the period of add/drop course.
- When you register for OCU (Open Cyber University) courses, it is considered that you agree with the terms and conditions of the privacy policy of allowing access to personal information (i.e. department, year, gender, student ID, phone number and etc.)
