Introduction

The Dept. of Law(capacity of 40 students) was established in 1981 within the College of Social Sciences. Thereafter, the department separated from the college and became independent in 1998 with day(35 students) and night(30 students) schools which unified in 2003 to the department of Law(65 students).

Goals

In accordance with the specialization strategy of INU, the department changed its educational goal ‘from theory oriented education to practice oriented education’ which is fostering.

In order to achieve this goal, Jeong Kan Je, a preparatory course for the state bar examination, was established in 1997. Many of our students were able to pass the exam and are currently active in legal professions or in the fields where legal knowledge in required. We also have students going graduate schools in Korea or overseas and receiving master’s or doctor’s degree. Meanwhile, as to cultivate legal experts for the era of Northeast Asia, we have intensified the education of international economics and commerce mainly focusing on Chinese law, and are activating exchanges with law schools abroad or major law firms.

Principles

Curriculum: The curriculum of the master’s course in Law is organized into Fundamental Law, Public Law, Private Law.
Major field of study & major area:
- ➀ A major field of study is classified as Fundamental Law, Public Law, Private Law.
- ➁ Fundamental Law Area is classified as Philosophy of Law, Sociology of Law, Legal Informatics, Legal History, Comparative Law, History of Legal Thoughts. Public Law is classified as Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Criminal law, International Law. Private Law is classified as Civil Law, Commercial Law, Code of Civil Procedure, Social Law.
Earning credit:
- ➀ Graduate student of department of law must earn more than 24 credits.
- ➁ Prerequisite courses must be earned 12 credits(4 subject) specified by the department of chair, in undergraduating courses of law department.
