Sungkyunkwan University has been hosting the Sungkyun Korean Essay Contest since 2007 to help students studying Korean worldwide deepen their understanding of Korea and grow into pro-Korea talents. We are pleased to announce the 2024 Sungkyun Korean Essay Contest as follows and encourage the excellent international students of Incheon University to participate.

A. Contest Overview

University Division

• Contest Date: Friday, September 27, 2024

• Registration Period: Wednesday, August 21, 2024 - Friday, September 6, 2024

• Format:
  Offline (at Sungkyunkwan University test site) and online (via Zoom)

• Writing Style:
  Essay (writing topic will be revealed on the contest day)
  Previous contest topics can be found on the Sungkyun Korean Essay Contest website

• Eligibility:
  Foreign undergraduate and graduate students, both in Korea and abroad, who are studying Korean (regardless of major)

• Awards:
  Grand Prize (1 person), Second Prize (2 people), Third Prize (2 people), and Honorable Mention (up to 10 people)

• Benefits for Winners:

  • Tuition benefits when enrolling in Sungkyunkwan University graduate programs
  • Benefits for attending Sungkyunkwan University's short-term education programs (International Summer/Winter Semester or Korean Language Program)
