1. Relevant Basis

According to Article 31(1) of the Immigration Control Act by the Ministry of Justice, if a foreigner wishes to stay in South Korea for more than 90 days, they must register as a foreigner within 90 days from the date of entry.

2. Application Information

• Target: International students who are new or transferring in the second semester of the 2024 academic year and are eligible for the issuance of a foreign registration card.

  • For reissuance (due to loss, change of residence status, etc.), individual applications are required.

• Application Procedure and Schedule (subject to change):

  1. Submission of Required Documents: To be submitted to the International Education Support Team by 5:00 PM on September 4, 2024.
     • If not submitted by the deadline, individual applications are required.
  2. Application for Foreign Registration Card: The International Education Support Team will proceed on September 10, 2024.
  3. Generation of Foreign Registration Number: Expected to be generated in September.
  4. Fingerprint Registration: Scheduled for October, further details will be provided.
     • Individual visits are also possible.
  5. Receipt and Distribution of Foreign Registration Card: Expected between late October and early November.

3. Required Documents

1. Integrated Application Form (available at the International Education Support Team office)
2. Copy of Passport
3. One passport-sized photo (taken within the last 6 months)
4. Certificate of Enrollment (available after September 2)
5. Fee of 30,000 KRW
6. Proof of residence (copy of a lease agreement, dormitory admission certificate, etc.)
7. Visa Issuance Confirmation (can be checked on the visa portal)
